Medical Officer with Enteric and Respiratory Infections under the Infectious Diseases  Division (Adv#42/2018)

icddr,b invites applications from suitable candidates for the position of Medical Officer with Enteric and Respiratory Infections under the Infectious Diseases  Division. The appointment will be made on a Contractual Service Agreement (CSA) basis for 8 months, which may be extended for further period depending on availability of funds and satisfactory performance.
Duty station - Dhaka

Salary - 91,188/  -(consolidated) per month inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances. No other benefit is admissible.
Job profile:
Plan, direct and conduct implementation of research activities WITH THE OBJECTIVE OF collecting relevant research data for creating knowledge WITHIN the guidelines of the research protocol; and organisational values and guidelines (such as Institutional Governance Framework - IGF and Gender Diversity Guidelines).
  • Project Planning and Review: Understand research protocol and plan for its implementation (milestones, deliverables etc.); Align implementation plans across partners (internal and external); Assign work to team and initiate activities as per project plan; Conduct regular meetings with subordinates to monitor deliverables against timelines and research criteria; enrolled and tested, and share it with supervisor; Should have sound ethical knowledge and Coordinate with supervisor for IRB related issues of the project in order to effectively and efficiently plan the execution of the research project.
  • Project Implementation: Interact with community leaders to seek buy-in for research activities; Shortlist participants for inclusion in the research study; Seek informed consent from the shortlisted participants by providing rationale and answers to concerns raised; Record basic demographic information and detailed participants history for treatment; Direct team to implement research activities (fill questionnaire, administer intervention etc.), when required; Should have adequate knowledge of Clinical trail. Compile and record results; Update records; Follow-up on the health of participants to record outcome; Monitor participants for complications, adverse events, serious adverse events, and to take immediate actions and keep the supervisor updated regularly; In cases of death, fill a post-death questionnaire; Update Research Investigator on death of included participants; Resolve any queries and escalate appropriate issues; Prepare report and share findings with the supervisor in order to execute activities in accordance with research protocol. Development of study tool and conduct the protocol training for research staff as per good clinical practices guideline.
  • People Management: Promote a spirit of collegiality and gender diversity amongst team members and in the organization; Encourage team members to collaborate across areas; Address and resolve any diversity related issues; set goals and conduct appraisals for the team; Set high standards and confront poor performance where needed; guide and prepare them for higher responsibilities; ask appropriate actions to manage poor performance (such as creating Performance Improvement Plans, coaching, job rotations, planning separations from icddr,b) in order to build and develop an engaged and high performing team.
Education and relevant experience:
  • MBBS from any reputed medical college with valid BMDC certificate
  • 3 years of experience in relevant field. Candidates with experience in clinical trail will be preferred.
