The USAID’s Alliance for Combating TB in Bangladesh activity is working to establish a dynamic, strategic, and fresh approach to accelerate Bangladesh’s fight against TB. The solutions will be aimed at creating an environment aligned with the universal health coverage (UHC) vision and focused on defined priority areas – increased TB detection, decentralized DR-TB management, improving detection and management of child TB, expanded prevention, private sector engagement in TB, and others.
The Medical Officer will report to the Deputy Project Coordinator. The position holder will be responsible for programme Implementation and supervision in the field sites, with special focus on Child TB and DR TB, in coordination with project management, GoB, NGOs and other stakeholders/ sub-recipient / partner organizations. S/he will be involved to–
- Monitor Active Case Finding intervention in project implementation areas under DPC’s supervision;
- Manage and guide field staff for clinical/programmatic field activities to ensure smooth and efficient implementation;
- Develop training and programme materials; and conduct capacity building sessions for field staff;
- Review and analysis of digitally-reported data from the field site and provide feedback, as appropriate;
- Conduct regular meetings with the field team to monitor deliverables against timelines and criteria, and provide feedback for improvement;
- Conduct patient evaluation/follow-up, as and when necessary for assigned project activities;
- Work with NTP field teams to follow up and monitor DR-TB patients enrolled under ambulatory zero-day treatment;
- Support in developing technical capacity of UHC-based teams in DR-TB patient management;
- Build rapport with all the stakeholders in the assigned divisions, maintain liaison with relevant Govt. Officials, NTP authority, and relevant stakeholders within the designated areas;
- Organize/participate in orientation programs related to project objectives;
- Ensure regular recording and reporting of assigned project activities in accordance with programme needs/as required by the NTP;
- Resolve programmatic queries and/or escalate appropriate issues to seniors/supervisor;
- Prepare reports and share findings regularly with the supervisor;
- Carry out any other activities, assigned by the seniors/supervisor.
Required qualification and experience:
- MBBS degree from a Medical College Hospital recognized by Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) with Masters in Public Health (MPH);
- 5 years of relevant experience in programme/field implementation. Candidates having experience in the field of TB / donor-supported program would be given preference.
Location: Anywhere in Bangladesh with frequent travel to field activity sites of USAID’s ACTB

Contract Type and Duration:
- Fixed Term; duration will be 1 year with a possibility of extension subject to performance.
Salary & benefits:
- Annual Tk. 15,31,970/- inclusive of house rent, conveyance, and other admissible benefits;
- 14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,917/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance, and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
