The Community Health Research Branch (CHRB) under the Matlab Health Research Centre provides maternal, child health, family planning (MCH& FP) services, and runs Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) services for the women of child bearing age and children under five living in the icddr,b service area. It also extends support to the research projects conducted in the service area. 

Key Responsibilities:

The Community Health Worker (CHW) will directly report to the Field Research Officer (FRO) and will be responsible for:

• Visiting assigned households to collect data on MCH & FP and EPI, keeping record in Service Record Book (SRB), doing pregnancy test, following-up of high-risk mothers and motivating mothers and family members for routine antenatal care (ANC), facilitate delivery and postnatal care (PNC);
• Distributing iron-folic acid and calcium tablet to pregnant women;
• Counseling and distributing family planning methods to women of reproductive age and their husbands;
• Conducting immunization sessions to vaccinate children, adolescent girls, and women of reproductive age through EPI at FSC with proper documentation. Reporting adverse event following immunization (AEFI) and other post vaccination events;
• Extending active support to community-based research projects, including vaccine trials and maternal and child health interventions. 

Required qualifications and experience:

• HSC or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience in a relevant field. 
• Knowledge of primary care in the field of maternal and child health will be preferred.

Contract Type and Duration:

The appointment will be made on a Short-Term basis for 11 months which is renewable depending on performance and availability of funds. 

Salary & benefits:

• Tk.24,340/- month (consolidated), inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen.
