Research Officer (Internal#97/2025)

icddr,b is a Bangladesh-based international health research institute that strives to solve key public health problems through high-quality scientific research and innovation. icddrb as a value-based organization encourages women and people with disabilities.

The project aims to strengthen the Urban Health and Demographic Surveillance System (Urban HDSS) to generate reliable data on maternal and child health, family planning, immunization, and other key public health indicators. The project will support evidence-based policy formulation and program planning by collecting, analyzing, and disseminating high-quality demographic and health data from selected urban communities.

To achieve these objectives, the project requires additional technical support in data management, analysis, and reporting. Therefore, a Research Officer (RO) will be hired to assist in supervising field operations, ensuring data quality, conducting preliminary data analysis, and supporting the preparation of technical reports and presentations. The RO will report to the Assistant Programme Manager for his/her work.
 

Key responsibilities:

• Analyze cross-sectional and longitudinal study data;
• Design study, survey; data collection tools development and digitize the tools in platforms like KoboToolBox;
• Draft quarterly and annual reports, and manuscripts for publication;
• Present study findings with stakeholders in meetings, scientific seminars, and conferences;
• Monitoring data quality and providing feedback;
• Capacity building of the field workers;
• Participate in meetings and take notes.

Required qualification and experience:

• BSC and MSC in Statistics/Applied Statistics/Social Science.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in relevant fields.
• Candidates with first-authored peer-reviewed journal publications and experience in demographic surveillance data management and analysis will get preference.

Contract Type and Duration:

• Short-Term Contractual Service Agreement basis for 3 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Tk.62,895/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
