Medical Technologist (Laboratory) with Maternal and Child Nutrition under the Nutrition Research Division (Internal#25/2026)

Position Description:
The Medical Technologist (Laboratory) reporting to the Associate Scientist with Nutrition Research Division (NRD) will be primarily responsible for collecting, labeling, and managing biological samples, organizing and conducting laboratory tests in accordance with study protocols and organizational values and guidelines. S/he will be involved in the following duties:

• Under the guidance of the supervisor, collect blood samples from study participants, maintain accurate records, and ensure confidentiality.
• Prepare dosing kits and distribute them to field teams.
• Measure body composition using the Agilent 4500t portable FTIR spectrometer.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• Maintain appropriate biosafety measures during testing to ensure high-quality results.
• Transfer and store blood, stool, and saliva samples in the laboratory.
• Maintain records of stored samples according to laboratory standard operating procedures.
• Organize and store samples while maintaining the cold chain to preserve sample integrity.
• Maintain stock inventory for all consumable supplies.
• Perform routine laboratory procedures, including decontamination and processing of biological specimens, and separation of plasma and serum.
• Prepare reagents in accordance with approved SOPs.
• Conduct maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment to ensure optimal operation, and perform minor troubleshooting.
• Contribute to manuscript writing for peer-reviewed journals.

Required qualification and experience:

• Diploma/BSc in Medical Laboratory Technology,
• At least 3 years’ relevant experience with recent experience of operating complex equipment, especially Agilent 4500t portable FTIR spectrometer for body composition analysis;
• Candidates should understand the Laboratory Quality Management System;
• Candidates must have the ability to work in a team and work under pressure in a challenging environment.

Location: Mirpur, Dhaka.

Contract Type and duration:

• Short-Term Contractual Service Agreement; duration will be 06 months with a possibility of extension subject to the availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Tk. 50,153/- per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
