Field Attendant (Adv#26/2026)

The Programme on Emerging Infections under the Infectious Disease Division is working to establish a dynamic and strategic approach to support the MBDC unit of DGHS in country’s fight against TB. The solutions will be focused on defined priority areas – increased TB detection, decentralized DR-TB management, improving detection and management of child TB, expanded prevention, private sector engagement in TB, etc.  

The Field Attendants will report to the Programme Assistant. The position holder will be responsible for Active Case Finding (ACF) and other TB related activities at the health facilities in different districts and upazilas of different Divisions of Bangladesh. This recruitment is contingent upon receiving funding from the donor. S/he will be involved in-

  • Identify TB presumptive through screening individuals in the attending facilities/community camp by using the NTP-approved TB screening tool;
  • Ensure presumptive evaluation by the physicians at the facilities;
  • Facilitate completion of TB testing of the presumptive as advised by the physicians through counselling, assisting, and follow-ups;
  • Ensure immediate enrollment under TB treatment in the corresponding DOTS Centre, if TB is diagnosed, follow-up until treatment completion;
  • Gather information on TB index patients and perform contact investigations at the patient’s household according to the national guideline;
  • Screen the contacts for TB, ensure necessary testing as per national protocol in collaboration with the corresponding DOTS center, and assist in TPT implementation as required;
  • Collect data using “tablets” and ensure proper maintenance of the electronic device;
  • Collect and update test information of individuals referred from portable X-ray camps and subsequent data of diagnosed TB patients;
  • Maintain the required registry books for documentation;
  • Communication and coordination with relevant other components of the project as instructed by the supervisor.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • H.S.C. passed or equivalent degree obtained
  • Minimum 1-year working experience in the health sector, however candidates having experience working in TB screening will be given preference
  • Local Candidates are highly encouraged to apply

Location: 

  • Dhaka Division: Faridpur, Madaripur, Shariatpur, Gopalganj, Rajbari, Munshiganj, Kishoreganj (both in District and Upazila level)
  • Mymensingh Division: Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Sherpur, Netrokona (both in District and Upazila level)

Contract Type and Duration:

  • Short-Term Contractual Service Agreement; duration will be 6 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Number of Positions: 100 (Approx)


Salary & benefits:

  • Tk.19,800/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
  • Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b.
