The Virology Laboratory of the Infectious Diseases Division conducts high-quality research and provides technical support to ongoing projects and training programs. The laboratory works on a broad range of human and animal viral infections. Beyond viral research, the laboratory also studies clinically significant non-viral microorganisms. The laboratory is actively engaged in antiviral drug discovery, diagnostic kit evaluation, and clinical trials of new therapeutics and vaccines. The Virology Laboratory initiated a pilot study “Investigating Reproductive Tract Infections (RTIs) and Associated Factors Among Ever-Married Women and Girls of Forcefully Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMN)” that seeks to address existing gaps by investigating the prevalence of common RTIs, identifying associated risk behaviours, and assessing the level of knowledge among the FDMN population.
Position Descriptoins:
The Study Nurse will report to the Project Research Physician and will be responsible for counselling patients, attendants, and visitors; collecting data and specimens under the project of Investigating Reproductive Tract Infections (RTIs) and Associated Factors Among Ever-Married Women and Girls of Forcefully Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMN), PR-25-031. She will be involved in –
- Collect Cervical Swab, process, and manage all specimens at the field site;
- Counsel patients, attendants, and visitors;
- Conduct a structured interview and collect data in android tab.
- Conduct bacterial vaginosis test (Nugent-scoring) in the field site;
- Coordinate with Physicians/Investigators in research-related activities, including sample collection;
- Maintain communication with Community Health Workers;
- Supervise the Health Worker's activities and collaborate with the study physician;
- Maintain records of all research-related data in the appropriate form;
- Ensure patient record confidentiality and practice best Nursing Ethics and Code of Conduct.
Required qualifications and experience:
- Diploma/BSc in Nursing Science and Midwifery with valid registration from the Bangladesh Nursing and Midwifery Council (BNMC).
- 01 year of experience in the relevant field.
- Candidates having knowledge in Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) research, work experience in FDMN community, and speaking proficiency in the Rohingya language will get preference.

Contract Type and duration:
- Short-Term Contractual Service Agreement; duration will be 06 months with a possibility of extension, subject to availability of funds and performance.
Salary & benefits:
- Tk.37,680/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
- Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
