Research Investigator (Internal#55/2026)
icddr,b is a Bangladesh-based international health research institute committed to addressing key public health challenges through high-quality research and innovation.
The Maternal Immunisation Readiness Network in Africa and Asia (MIRNA) project aims to support the introduction of new maternal vaccines for Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and Group B Streptococcus (GBS) in Bangladesh by strengthening evidence, delivery platforms, and policy readiness. This project assesses health system readiness, synthesises disease burden data for RSV and GBS, and generates evidence on economic feasibility. The project also examines vaccine demand and hesitancy using social science approaches and engages stakeholders to build a national community of practice.
The Research Investigator reports to the Associate Scientist and will be responsible for coordinating data collection activities, participating in qualitative data collection, data processing, analyses, and writing up the results using mixed method research under the above-mentioned project. The Research Investigator will also be responsible for developing concept notes, participating in proposal and protocol writing, coordinating research studies in collaboration with government and non-government, national and international partners within the guidelines of the research protocol and organizational values.
The specific areas of responsibilities include:
- Lead and coordinate multi-project research activities, ensuring alignment with objectives and timelines;
- Design and adapt health facility readiness frameworks, including toolkits, assessments, and situational analyses;
- Plan and oversee facility assessments and fieldwork to evaluate readiness for maternal vaccine introduction;
- Conduct economic, epidemiological, and implementation analyses to assess intervention effectiveness and system impact;
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement, including national consultations and workshops with government and partners;
- Supervise multidisciplinary teams, ensuring quality implementation, protocol adherence, and data integrity;
- Contribute to scientific writing, proposal development, and translation of findings into policy-relevant evidence.
Required qualifications and experience:
- MBBS with MPH from a reputed university with excellent academic record;
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in public health research, preferably in maternal and child health and health systems research.

Contract Type and duration:
- Short Term Contractual Service Agreement basis; duration will be 3 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.
Salary & Benefits:
- Tk.1,40,750/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
- Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen, transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
