Community Health Worker (CHW) with Population Science under the Health Systems and Population Studies Division (Internal#60/2026)

Cerebral palsy (CP), the most common physical disability in children. In Bangladesh, CP cases are typically detected late, around 5 years of age, limiting opportunities for early intervention. The conventional methods of diagnosing CP are mostly dependent on expensive imaging techniques, available mostly in urban settings. The GMA-CP study will use the General Movements Assessment (GMA), a non-invasive and cost-effective method that can identify infants at high risk of CP by assessing videos of infants’ movements recorded as early as 20 weeks of age.
Duties and responsibilities:
The Community Health Worker (CHW) will directly report to the Project Research Physician of the GMA-CP study. The major areas of responsibilities include:
- Visit household of the selected participants, motivate parents, and take consent from the legal guardian;
- Administer questionnaire including information on pregnancy and birth outcomes;
- Guide parents in recording videos of the baby’s movements;
- Seek supervisor’s guidance to resolve issues arises in the field;
- Perform other assignments as required by the study.
Required qualifications and experience:
- HSC or equivalent;
- At least 3 years’ experience in the relevant field. Preferably, those who have worked previously in a study related to Mother and Child health;
- Good communication skills;
- Good technical knowledge and ability to use smart phone and Tab.

Contract Type and duration:
- Short Term Contractual Service Agreement basis; duration will be 10 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.
Salary & benefits:
- 25,560/-per month (consolidated), inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
- Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
