Technical Assistant with Population Science under the Health Systems and Population Studies Division (Internal#64/2026)

icddr,b is a Bangladesh-based international health research institute committed to addressing key public health challenges through high-quality research and innovation.

This position will be hired for the ' icddr,b Centre for Climate-Change and Health (iCCH)' which has been established in the icddr,b  Chakaria campus. A fully equipped microbiology lab has been established under the iCCH which will process the biological (stool) and environmental samples collected from the local community covered under the Chakaria HDSS (Health and Demographic Surveillance System).

Key responsibilities:

The Technical Assistant will work under iCCH and report to the Research Officer and will be involved in:

• Clean and wash all lab wares following the SOP used in the lab; Dry all lab wares in the specific ovens; clean and dry ovens refrigerators and shelves;
• Maintain & regulate temperature during cleaning and washing of lab supplies and equipment;
• Place all lab wares in specific places for easy retrieval;
• Keep lab working places and adjacent areas clean to ensure the quality of laboratory activities;
• Take part in the activity for transportation of lab supplies, reagents and other items as required;
• Prepare different types of acid and solutions for washing particular lab wares;
• Receive different types of samples in labs on time;
• Process primary specimens of laboratory tests in order to ensure uninterrupted operation of laboratory activities.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• S.S.C pass or equivalent;
• Minimum 1-year experience in the relevant laboratory work.
• Preference will be given to candidates from Chakaria Upazila, Cox’s Bazar District.

Contract Type and Duration:

• Fixed Term; duration will be 01 year with a possibility of extension, subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & Benefits:

• Annual Salary of Tk. 351,690/- inclusive of house rent, conveyance allowances and other admissible benefits, including provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children's allowance, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support, group life insurance, and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
