Research Officer with Emerging & Re-emerging Infections under the Infectious Diseases Division (Internal#65/2026)
icddr,b is a Bangladesh-based international health research institute committed to addressing key public health challenges through high-quality research and innovation.
The Programme for Emerging & Re-emerging Infections under the Infectious Disease Division has prioritized key areas, including TB detection and diagnosis, enhanced detection of resistant and pediatric/adult TB, acknowledging drug resistance patterns, genotyping, and other initiatives utilizing new innovative laboratory-based technologies.
Key Responsibilities
The Research Officers will directly report to the Scientist. The major areas of responsibilities include:
- Conduct routine laboratory tests, sample processing/storage, PCR, ELISA, NGS, and maintain records as per SOP;
- Prepare reports, analyze data, and support manuscript/report writing;
- Maintain/calibrate laboratory equipment and perform troubleshooting;
- Ensure quality assurance, monitor resources, and support research protocols/proposals;
- Coordinate with research teams regarding laboratory procedures and activities.
Required qualifications and experience:
- Masters in Microbiology/Biochemistry and Molecular Biology/Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology with an excellent academic record from any reputed University.
- At least 3 years of research experience in the field of microbiology and molecular biology.
- Candidates with experience in microbiological culture, Microscopy, DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, RT-PCR, Gel electrophoresis, ELISA will be given preference.

Contract Type and duration:
- Short-Term; duration will be 3 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.
Salary & Benefits:
- Monthly Tk. 66,040/- (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances. Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
