Manager, General Services under the Support Services (Adv#75/2026)

General Services Unit is a diverse service unit and mandated to provide centrally managed general services at Dhaka, Matlab and other field sites in order to facilitate icddr,b’s research activities, hospital operation and other businesses to make them enable to attain their goals. 

Key Responsibilities:
Manager, General Services will be primarily responsible for planning, organizing and monitoring processes and activities of the General Services Unit with the objective of effectively maintaining and continuously improving the functionality and efficiency of General services across icddr,b within the guidelines  of General services strategy and organizational values and guidelines.

The specific areas of responsibilities include:

• Develop policies and procedures related to safety, security and cleaning;
• Prepare operational plans for all General Services activities and ensure their effective implementation in alignment with the approved budget;
• Coordinate with internal units to gather, assess, and consolidate requirements related to General Services functions (i.e. outsourced personnel);
• Establish acceptable standards and protocol for maintaining cleanliness of infrastructure and icddr,b property;
• Develop tools and mechanisms for monitoring facilities, safety, security and cleaning activities;
• Monitor implementation of processes (i.e. fire safety, keys management, waste disposal, mortuary services) and   activities (i.e. mailing service, gardening, car parking) for maintenance of icddr,b property;
• Coordinate with Procurement to select outsourced staff and monitor vendor performance against Service Level Agreement in monthly review meetings along with internal stakeholders;
• Direct team to deliver services on a continuous basis and meet ad hoc requirements (i.e. provide tents for hospital, organize conferences);
• Track and monitor shift-reporting system on a daily basis; Conduct weekly reviews with team;
• Guide team members to continuously improve service-orientation towards internal customers in order to constantly improve the effectiveness of processes and responsiveness to internal customers

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Master’s degree in Social Science;
• 8 years of managerial experience in security, cleaning & sanitation, facilities management, preferably in any UN organization or in a large international/multi- disciplinary/Health care organization.

Contract Type and duration:

• Fixed Term; duration will be 2 Years with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Annual 1,689,000/- inclusive of house rent, conveyance allowances and other admissible benefits.
• 14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.2,492/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance, and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
