Senior Project Officer (Adv#78/2026)

icddr,b is a Bangladesh-based international health research institute committed to addressing key public health challenges through high-quality research and innovation.

The Maternal & Child Health Division is working with the Government of Bangladesh to strengthen the national District Health Information System (DHIS2) to enhance disease surveillance, health program monitoring, data-driven decision-making, and reporting.

The Senior Project Officer will report to the Deputy Project Coordinator, work in close collaboration with the MIS Unit of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), and contribute to the development of interoperable health information solutions, real-time dashboards, GIS-based visualization tools, data analytics systems, and capacity-building initiatives supporting government health programs and national surveillance systems. The role will support the expansion and modernization of the national health data ecosystem.

Specific Areas of Responsibility
  • Design, develop, configure, and customize DHIS2 Tracker programs in line with programmatic and operational requirements;
  • Configure and maintain tracked entity types, program stages, program rules, indicators, data elements, validation rules, and other system metadata;
  • Conduct smooth operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of DHIS2 Tracker implementations to optimize system performance;
  • Support the integration of health information systems through APIs and interoperability standards;
  • Extract, process, manage, and synchronize data from DHIS2 and other national health information systems;
  • Develop and maintain external, real-time dashboards that integrate data from multiple platforms through APIs;
  • Design GIS-based visualizations and conduct spatial analyses of health data using ArcGIS and QGIS;
  • Collaborate closely with government health authorities, national health programs, and technical partners to support system implementation and enhancement;
  • Provide technical assistance, user support, and capacity-building on DHIS2 Tracker and related digital health systems;
  • Facilitate training sessions, workshops, and on-the-job mentoring for stakeholders and end users;
  • Develop and update user manuals, technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and data quality assurance guidelines.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Master’s degree in MPH/Health Informatics/Data Science/relevant domain;
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience, including customizing and implementing open-source global digital health platforms (e.g., DHIS2) within the public health sector;
  • Advanced-level expertise in independently configuring, customizing, and managing Health Management Information System (HMIS) platform is essential;
  • Experience with health information system interoperability, API integration, data analytics, dashboard development, and GIS applications is highly desirable;
  • Demonstrated experience in system maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimization will be considered an added advantage.

Contract Type and Duration

Short-term Contractual Service Agreement basis; duration will be 3 months, with the possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and satisfactory performance.

Salary and Benefits
  • Tk. 83,548/- per month (consolidated), inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
  • Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b, and subsidized canteen, transport, and daycare facilities (subject to space availability).
