The One Health Laboratory (OHL) is a multidisciplinary research facility focused on the intersection of human, animal, and environmental health. OHL works at local, national, and global levels to enhance the response to emerging zoonotic diseases through integrated research and collaboration.

Position Description:
The Research Fellow will report to the Scientist/Assistant Scientist and will perform laboratory research, prepare research concepts and protocols, plan, organize, and implement research activities, and also write manuscripts to conduct high-quality lab research under OHL within the guidelines of the research protocol and organizational values. She/he will be involved in:

• Develop weekly lab work plans and implement accordingly;
• Conduct microbial cultures, cell culture, molecular cloning, RT-PCR (real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction), antibiotic susceptibility test, pseudovirus neutralization assay and bioinformatics of microbial genomes;
• Maintain lab safety and proper handling of biohazardous materials;
• Train staff in bio-safety and resolve lab test issues;
• Analyse data for publication and research development;
• Collaborate with partners and stakeholders;
• Receive training in advanced statistical analysis and bioinformatics;
• Develop protocols and present them to the Research Review Committee (RRC) and Ethical Review Committee (ERC) for approval;
• Prepare and present research findings and manuscripts.

Required qualifications and experience:

• Master's with B.Sc. in Microbiology/Molecular Biology/Biochemistry/Biotechnology or Genetic Engineering with an excellent academic record (at least CGPA 3.5 on a 4-point scale in both Bachelor's and Master's degrees) and completion of a thesis in a relevant field;
• 1 year of relevant laboratory experience;
• Preference will be given to candidates with publications in international peer-reviewed journals.
• Strong interpersonal and excellent communication and writing skills in English;

Contract Type and Duration:

• Fellowship agreement; duration will be 1 year, with a possibility of extension subject to the availability of funds and performance.

 Stipend & Facilities:

• Stipend: Tk. 59,140/- per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances. Income tax paid by icddr,b, including subsidised canteen and transport (subject to space availability).
