Assistant Technician, Elevator with Facilities Management under the Support Services (Adv#89/2026)

Key Responsibilities:

The Assistant Technician - Elevator will be responsible for repairing, installation and maintenance of Elevator and all other associated equipment with the objective of efficient functioning of all Elevators maintaining quality of output of the equipment within the guidelines of the Facilities Management Services and organizational values and guidelines.

The specific areas of responsibilities include:

• Keep all elevators fully operational by verifying accurate landing indicators and proper functioning of lighting and ventilation systems; Conduct routine inspections for unusual vibrations, jerking movements, abnormal noises and floor-leveling discrepancies during acceleration and deceleration;
• Verify the functionality of all elevators safety and control components including Car Operating Panels (COPs), hall call buttons, emergency alarm systems, and intercom communication devices to ensure passenger safety and reliability;
• Perform preventive maintenance of guide rails, door operator mechanisms, traveling cables and other moving components to ensure smooth and efficient operation; Clean and maintain motor casings, traction machines and governor assemblies;
• Take measures to prevent overheating of control panels and electrical equipment; Clean elevator pits regularly; Inspect, clean and adjust door tracks, hanger rollers, safety shoes and light curtains;
• Implement and maintain proper safety procedures before opening any hoist way door for maintenance activities;
• Participate in emergency response drills and carry out manual brake release and passenger rescue procedures during power failures, equipment malfunctions or entrapment incidents;
• Gain foundational knowledge of Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems to assist the technical team in performing routine inspections, filter cleaning, operational monitoring and basic HVAC maintenance tasks as required.                                                                                           

Required Education and Relevant Experience:

• S.S.C. or Equivalent. Preference will be given having Trade course on Electrical/Mechanical.
• 03 years working experience on Lift servicing, maintenance & operation.

Location: Dhaka.

Number of positions: 01

Contract Type and duration:

• Short-Term; duration will be 11 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Tk. 33,396/- per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances.
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
