Senior Assistant Engineer, Civil & Fire Safety with Facilities Management under the Support Services (Internal#93/2026)

Facilities Management Services under Support Service ensures to provide essential engineering supports, sustained utility services, hygienic food, secured work environment and committed transport service round the clock in order to facilitate icddr,b’s research activities, hospital operation and other related functions to make them enable to attain their goals.  

Key Responsibilities:

Senior Assistant Engineer, Civil & Fire Safety will be responsible to plan, monitor, inspect, supervise and ensure quality control of assigned civil engineering and fire safety activities. Liaise with consultants and contractors to facilitate civil and fire-safety related projects for Dhaka and other field office under the Civil Engineering Unit (CEU) of Facilities Management Services.

The specific areas of responsibilities include:

• Develop blueprints/master plans for projects; Prepare project plans, timelines and progress reports; Prepare cost estimates; Check materials, workmanship and methods to ensure quality and compliance with codes;
• Support civil Engineering unit in carrying out civil works, maintenance and project activities;
• Track, coordinate and carry out preventive maintenance of fire safety equipment; Collaborate with the Manager, Civil Engineering to monitor fire safety activities, Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) schedules and contractor billing;
• Respond to breakdowns in facilities and ensure their resolution in accordance with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs);
• Conduct market research to identify and assess potential new vendors; Evaluate potential new vendors on-site wherever required; Finalize enlisted vendors for the year; Inspect materials, workmanship and work methods to ensure compliance with quality standards, specifications and applicable codes and regulations; Coordinate with the awarded vendors so that all civil & Fire safety related projects are completed within the stipulated time.

 Required Education and Relevant Experience:

• B.Sc. in Civil/Civil & Environmental Engineering. 6 Months course on Fire Safety will be preferable;
• 8 years’ experience in civil construction, laboratory establishment, maintenance and fire safety-related works.

Contract Type and duration:

• Fixed Term; duration will be 2 Years with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Annual 1,002,570/- inclusive of house rent, conveyance allowances and other admissible benefits.
• 14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.2,492/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance, and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
