The Clinical Hematology and Cancer Biology Laboratory, under the Clinical and Diagnostic Services division, plays a vital role in supporting diagnostic services across the organization. The Laboratory of Hematology, Cancer Biology, and Clinical Pathology provides comprehensive laboratory diagnostic support through the analysis of blood, urine, stool, body fluids, and the microscopic examination of individual cells. These services are essential for the accurate diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and prevention of a wide range of diseases, contributing significantly to high-quality patient care.
Position Description:
The Senior Medical Technologist reporting to the Lab Manager will be responsible for performing following duties and responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance, quality control (QC), and calibration support of laboratory equipment in accordance with the Quality Management System (QMS) and approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Conduct routine haematology, coagulation, urine, stool, body fluid, and other clinical pathology tests, including reticulocyte counts.
- Perform microscopic examination of blood, urine, stool, and body fluid specimens and ensure accurate interpretation and documentation of results.
- Operate haematology and clinical pathology analyzers and other designated laboratory equipment efficiently and accurately.
- Prepare laboratory worksheets, analyze test results, and generate laboratory reports for review and authorization.
- Perform blood grouping, cross-matching, antibody screening, Direct Antiglobulin Test (DAT), and Indirect Coombs Test (ICT) etc.
- Prepare and maintain laboratory reagents, stains, disinfectants, and chemical solutions in accordance with approved SOPs.
- Maintain inventory of laboratory reagents, chemicals, consumables, personal protective equipment (PPE), and other laboratory supplies in coordination with the inventory management team.
- Operate, monitor, and maintain laboratory equipment, including centrifuges, biosafety cabinets, refrigerators, freezers, micropipettes, and other laboratory instruments.
- Maintain proper documentation of equipment maintenance, calibration, quality control, and laboratory records.
- Participate in Internal Quality Control (IQC), External Quality Assessment Scheme (EQAS), and other laboratory quality assurance activities.
- Maintain compliance with biosafety, biosecurity, infection prevention, and waste management procedures.
- Adhere to institutional policies, Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP), Quality Management System (QMS) requirements, and relevant regulatory standards.
- Maintain confidentiality, accuracy, and integrity of laboratory data and patient information.
Required qualifications and experience:
- B.Sc. in Medical Technology (Lab)/ Health Technology;
- At least 5 years of experience in an ISO-accredited Haematology and Clinical Pathology laboratory. - The candidate should be proficient in the operation and routine maintenance of Haematology and Clinical Pathology autoanalyzers. A sound understanding of biosafety, biosecurity, quality assurance (QA), and laboratory quality management systems is essential. The applicant must be capable of maintaining high standards of laboratory accuracy, quality, and compliance with established protocols, regulatory requirements, and ISO standards.

Contract Type and duration:
- Fixed Term; duration will be 2 years with a possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.
Salary & benefits:
- Annual Tk. 7,92,480/- inclusive of house rent, conveyance allowances and other admissible benefits.
- 14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.2,492/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance, and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
