Senior Research Assistant with Health Economics and Financing under the Health Systems and Population Studies Division (Internal#102/2026)

icddr,b is a Bangladesh-based international health research institute committed to addressing key public health challenges through high-quality research and innovation.

The Health Economics and Financing (HEF) Research Group at icddr,b works to support the achievement of universal coverage of quality healthcare through conducting robust health economic research and generating evidence for informed policymaking. The strategic focus of the research group includes economic evaluation of health and related programmes, assessing equity in health and health resource distribution, estimating the economic burden of diseases, review and testing of innovative health financing mechanisms to prioritize resource allocation within the health system and to remove financial barriers to accessing healthcare for all. 

Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Research Assistant will report directly to the Assistant Scientist and will be responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and implementation of research activities to ensure the conduct of high-quality research in accordance with approved research protocols and organizational policies and values. 

• Provide input in the designing of household surveys, including sampling strategies and sample size determination;
• Develop survey instruments aligned with the study objectives;
• Design and program questionnaires for tablet-based data collection platforms, including KoboToolbox;
• Train field staff on data collection tools, study procedures, and field protocols;
• Perform data cleaning, management, and validation of survey datasets;
• Develop data analysis plans and apply appropriate statistical techniques and modelling approaches to generate scientific evidence from collected data;
• Conduct statistical analyses using software packages such as Stata, R, and Microsoft Excel;
• Provide input in the preparation of scientific reports, policy briefs, and manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals;
• Prepare presentations and other dissemination materials for stakeholder meetings, workshops, seminars, and scientific conferences.

Required qualifications and experience:

• Master’s in Statistics with good academic records;
• At least 3 years' of relevant experience in statistical data analysis using STATA and R.
• Publications in peer-reviewed journals will be preferred.

Contract Type and duration:

Short-Term; duration will be 3 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• 50,267 per month(consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
