Health Technologist (Laboratory) with Emerging & Re-emerging Infections under the Infectious Diseases Division (Adv#108/2026)

Programme for Emerging Infections under the Infectious Disease Division undertakes a wide range of activities to address infectious disease challenges, including TB diagnosis, enhanced detection of resistant and pediatric TB, genotyping, integrated TB services, and other initiatives utilizing innovative portable radiography with artificial intelligence and laboratory-based technologies.

Position Description:

The Health Technologist (Laboratory) will report to the Research Investigator (RI). The position holder will perform all laboratory related tasks including pulmonary sample tests by GeneXpert machine and other tests required by the project/field sites or TB Screening and Treatment Centres (TBSTCs). The specific areas of responsibility include: 

• Conduct TB symptom screening for presumptive patients and record patient information using electronic devices;
• Counsel patients on proper sample collection and perform laboratory tests following SOPs;
• Maintain accurate test records, update project databases, and ensure timely reporting;
• Follow up with patients and maintain medical records;
• Operate and assist in the maintenance of GeneXpert and other laboratory equipment, reporting technical issues;
• Coordinate with team members and stakeholders, conduct outreach activities, and perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

 Required qualifications and experiences:

• SSC or equivalent, with Diploma in Medical Technology (Laboratory).
• 3-years’ working experience in diagnostic Laboratories; Candidates having experience with TB services, and handling GeneXpert machines will be given preference. 

Location: Dhaka

Number of Positions: 05 

Contract Type and Duration: 

Short-Term; duration will be 03 months with a possibility of extension, subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & Benefits: 

Tk. 33,397/- per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances; Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
