Research Assistant (Internal#112/2026)

icddr,b is a Bangladesh-based international health research institute committed to addressing key public health challenges through high-quality research and innovation.

The Mucosal Immunology and Vaccinology Unit (MIVU) under the Infectious Diseases Division focuses on studies to understand the systemic and mucosal immunology of diseases with natural infections, and on applying and extending these findings to better determine vaccine efficacy.

Position Description:
The Research Assistant will report to the Research Investigator and will be responsible for planning, organizing and implementing research with the objective of conducting high-quality research within the guidelines of the research protocol. The role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain GIS databases;
• Prepare spatial datasets and perform quality control;
• Create thematic maps and spatial analyses;
• Collect, validate, and integrate GPS and field survey data;
• Support spatial planning and decision-making through geospatial analysis.

Required qualifications and experience:

• Master in Geography and Environment with good academic records;
• At least 3 years of experience in the relevant field;
• Experience in GIS data collection/management and proficiency in using software (ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS) will be given preference.

Location: Mirpur

Number of Positions: 01 post

Contract Type and Duration: 

• Short-Term; duration will be 06 months with a possibility of extension, subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & Benefits:

• Tk.41,522/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
