Physician with Dhaka Hospital of Clinical and Diagnostic Services under the Office of Executive Director (Adv#119/2026)

Dhaka Hospital was established by icddr,b in 1962 primarily to meet the urgent need to treat patients, particularly children, with severe diarrhoeal disease. It has since grown into a nationally important centre treating around 200,000 patients a year. Dhaka Hospital offers a full range of services, particularly for diarrhoeal and respiratory disease, with infants and children representing a high proportion of patients.

Key Responsibilities:

The position holder will report to Head, Hospital and will be responsible to support Clinical Fellows in their learning process, conduct clinical rounds for patient management, involve in clinical research, report issues to the Senior Physicans for resolution. He/ She will be responsible for:

  • Perform detailed patient evaluations, including comprehensive physical examinations and clinical history documentation;
  • Execute tailored treatment plans and medication orders under senior doctors or Unit In-charge supervision;
  • Review patient responses to medical interventions by following predefined follow-up protocols;
  • Participate in rotational roster duty to ensure continuous, round-the-clock patient coverage;
  • Respond to critical emergencies as an active member of the hospital Code Blue team;
  • Maintain accurate, real-time medical charts, progress notes, disease diagnosis, medication order in SHEBA system;
  • Report Serious Adverse Events (SAEs) and adverse drug reactions immediately per hospital policy;
  • Escalate critical issues and update supervisors promptly regarding any notifiable patient events;
  • Collaborate closely with physicians and nursing staff to ensure seamless, multidisciplinary patient management;
  • Engage in clinical audits, infection control protocols, and hospital-wide quality improvement initiatives;
  • Coordinate diagnostic workflows with internal laboratories for patient sample analysis and timely results recording;
  • Join senior doctors on grand rounds to support care delivery and disseminate insights to clinical fellows;
  • Update supervisor on any notifiable events of included patients; Resolve any queries and escalate appropriate issues;
  • Maintain liaison with clinical research team and their Pls/study coordinator for proper study implementation;
  • Compile comprehensive data reports to share research findings with supervisors in line with study protocols;
  • Conduct eligibility assessment, seek consent from the enrolled patients by providing rationale and answers to concerns raised;
  • Record basic demographic information and detailed patient history; direct team to implement research activities;
  • Prepare report and share findings with the supervisor in order to execute activities in accordance with research protocol;
  • Monitor and mentor clinical fellows, providing active structural support throughout their fellowship and education program.

Required qualification and experience:

  • MBBS degree from a Medical College recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council with completion of one-year internship training;
  • Minimum 3 years clinical experience in a reputed hospital (Excluding internship training);
  • Completed at least 1 year clinical fellowship training in icddr,b.
  • Preference will be given to candidates holding a postgraduate degree in Paediatrics (FCPS, MD, DCH), Medicine, or Public Health (MPH).

Number of Positions: 2 Posts

Contract Type and duration:

  • CSA basis for 11 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.

Salary & benefits: 

  • Tk. 96,120/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
  • Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
