Research Officer (Internal#130/2026)
icddr,b is a Bangladesh-based international health research institute committed to addressing key public health challenges through high-quality research and innovation.
The Virology Laboratory of the Infectious Diseases Division conducts high-quality research and provides technical support for ongoing research projects and training programs. The laboratory works on a broad range of viral infections, including influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and SARS-CoV-2. It also conducts clinical trials of antiviral drugs to address critical gaps in the prevention and treatment of respiratory infections.
Position Description:
The Research Officer will report to the Assistant/Associate Scientist and will be responsible for planning, designing, managing and analyzing research data. The role will support statistical modelling, study design, database management and preparation of high-quality analytical outputs that contribute to evidence-based decision-making in clinical trial unit projects. The role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Design and manage data collection tools and research databases, ensuring accuracy, completeness and integrity of data collected through field studies;
- Conduct statistical analyses using software such as SPSS, REdCap , STATA, or R, Python and generate tables, figures, and reports to support research findings;
- Assist in study design and sampling strategies, including sample size calculation, analysis and development of data collection tools;
- Work with the investigator to interpret analytical findings and contribute to research dissemination, including manuscripts and conference presentations;
- Develop research methods and tools in consultation with the PI;
- Prepare data analysis reports and support manuscript preparation, presentations and grant applications;
- Ensure confidentiality and handle all study data ethically in accordance with icddr,b’s research and data protection policies;
- Contribute to the training and capacity building of team members in data management and basic statistical techniques.
Required qualification and experience:
- Master's in Social Science/Disaster Management/Environmental Science with good academic records;
- At least 3 years of research experience in infectious disease laboratory-based public health research settings.
- Candidates having experience in clinical trials, particularly antiviral drug trials will be given preference.

Contract Type and duration:
- Short-Term: duration will be 06 months with a possibility of extension subject to the availability of funds and performance.
Salary & benefits:
- Tk.66,040/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances; festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
