Programme Officer with Emerging and Re-emerging Infections under the Infectious Diseases Division (Adv#137/2026)

Programme for Emerging and Re-emerging Infections under Infectious Diseases Division is conducting research project aims to investigate the ecological, epidemiological, and zoonotic pathways associated with henipavirus emergence through an integrated One Health approach. The project will incorporate animal and wildlife surveillance, ecological assessment, characterization of human–animal interfaces, pathogen detection, and identification of factors associated with potential spillover.
Position Description::
The Programme Officer reporting to Research Investigator will be mainly responsible for following duties and responsibilities:
- Operate Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), particularly the DJI Matrice 4T, safely and professionally;
- Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight procedures according to established UAV safety standards and manufacturer recommendations;
- Conduct pre-flight inspection of aircraft, propellers, batteries, controllers, payloads, sensors, memory/storage devices, and other associated equipment;
- Assess weather, visibility, wind conditions, obstacles, terrain, nearby structures, people, electrical infrastructure, and other potential hazards before each flight;
- Establish appropriate take-off and landing areas and maintain safe operational control throughout each mission;
- Maintain Visual Line of Sight (VLOS) where required under applicable regulations;
- Monitor aircraft altitude, distance, battery condition, GNSS status, communication link, obstacle warnings, and other flight parameters;
- Apply appropriate Return-to-Home (RTH), emergency landing, lost-link, low-battery, and other emergency procedures when necessary;
- Maintain UAV aircraft, controllers, batteries, chargers, payloads, storage devices, cases, and accessories in good operational condition;
- Download and organize aerial photographs, videos, thermal imagery, flight logs, and other mission data;
- Maintain regulatory conditions while operating UAV and DJI Matrice 4T.
Required qualification and experience:
- Bachelor in any discipline with a valid drone operation license approved by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB);
- At least 3 years of experience in relevant field. Experience may be relaxed for the candidates having experience in professional drone operation, preferably in wildlife, ecological, agricultural, environmental, or field-based aerial surveys;
- Experience in GPS/GIS-based mapping and operating high-resolution/thermal-camera-equipped drones is an advantage.
Location: Dhaka.
Number of Positions: 01
Contract Type and Duration:
- Short-Term; duration will be 11 months with a possibility of extension, subject to availability of funds and performance.
Salary & Benefits:
- Tk.66,040/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances; Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
