“Respiratory microbiome and viral surveillance Evaluation project" under Centre for Climate-Change and Health (iCCH)” will be implemented within the Chakaria Health and Demographic Surveillance System (HDSS) area and will involve community-based surveillance, household visits, participant interviews, and collection of respiratory samples. The project aims to strengthen the iCCH research platform for investigating respiratory microbiomes and viral infections and to support future research on the interactions among infectious diseases, environmental and climatic exposures, and human health.

Position Descriptions:
The Senior Technical Assistant will report to the Assistant Scientist and will be responsible for the implementation of research activities with the objective of collecting relevant research information for creating knowledge within the guidelines of the research protocol and organizational values and guidelines. The specific areas of responsibility include:

• Clean and wash all lab wares following the SOP manual used in the lab; Dry all lab wares in the specific ovens;
• Maintain & regulate temperature in order to ensure cleaning and washing of lab supplies and equipment;
• Place all lab wares in specific places for easy retrieval; clean and dry ovens, refrigerators, and shelves;
• Keep lab working places and adjacent areas clean to ensure the quality of laboratory activities;
• Take part in the activity for transportation of lab supplies, reagents, and other items from place to place as required;
• Prepare different types of acids and solutions used in the washing of laboratory wares using the specific detergent required for washing particular lab wares;
• Receive different types of samples in labs on time;
• Process primary specimens of laboratory tests in order to ensure uninterrupted operation of laboratory activities;
• Provide inputs to the office manager to ensure smooth operation of laboratory activities.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum HSC or Diploma in Medical Technology;
• 3 years’ experience in the relevant laboratory work.

Contract Type and duration:

• Short-Term: duration will be 06 months with a possibility of extension subject to the availability of funds and performance.

 Salary & benefits:

• Tk.33,397/- per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances; festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
