Assistant Medical Technologist under Clinical and Diagnostic Services (Adv#150/2026)

Position Description:

The Assistant Medical Technologist reporting to the Senior Research officer / Research Officer and will be primarily responsible for processing biological samples, handling laboratory equipment, conducting quality laboratory procedures and sample testing, and documentation within the guidelines of SOP, and assisting medical technologists in day-to-day laboratory activities while maintaining organizational values and guidelines. S/he will be involved in the following duties:

• Prepare worksheet and record data and verify report
• Perform routine laboratory procedures as assigned by supervisor following approved SOP and keep records.
• Operate laboratory analyzers, and perform daily maintenance, QC, and calibration; assist in operating complex autoanalyzers as assigned by supervisor.
• Process sample and prepare for testing, sort and organize samples for storage as per SOP.
• Identify equipment malfunction and timely notification of equipment status to supervisor.
• Prepare in-house reagents and chemicals and maintain log. Perform periodic quality checks.
• Perform routine maintenance, replace supplies and consumables of laboratory equipments; maintain legitimate records.
• Perform periodic in-house maintenance of assigned laboratory equipments as per Equipment Maintenance Plan.
• Maintain stock inventory for consumables and supplies.
• Adhere and implement ISO 15189:2012 and ISO 15190 standards and guidelines in the workplace and routine operations.
• Adhere to biosafety procedures and practices and maintain a safe working environment, identify deviations, and notify immediately. 
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required qualification and experience:

• Diploma/BSc in Medical Laboratory Technology with good academic records.
• At least 3 years’ relevant experience with recent experience of working in clinical diagnostic laboratory set-up.
• Candidates should understand the Laboratory Quality Management System;
• Candidates must have the ability to work in a team and work under pressure in a challenging environment and willing to work on roster basis duty.
• Prior experience of working in a ISO15189 accredited laboratory will get preference.

Location: Dhaka.

Contract Type and duration:

• Short-Term Contractual Service Agreement; duration will be 11 months with a possibility of extension subject to the availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Tk. 41,522/- per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
